how time passes...

wow! it's been too long... this has been a busy three weeks, and we were away for some of it. VACATION!!! and, most importantly... Erin learned to walk... be afraid... very afraid. I will post a video of that when I get a chance. First off... another FO. This cardigan was a "twin" to the hoodie that I posted about in June. Also made of Cottentots, and made for Theo who is probably the closest that Juliet will come to having a brother...
here is a close up of the buttons/stitches...
I really liked this pattern - top down, no sewing after the fact - this is how I have been knitting lately as I really dislike getting all the crocheting done, then having to spend at least another hour doing the sewing. I think from now on I will search for patterns like this!

Sir Bear took good care of our house while we galavanted in Lancaster County, Hershey, PA and then visited my old home in Pittsburgh. All in all it was a good time, however it was a lot of driving and the upside of that means a lot of knitting time. I haven't taken photos yet, but I have the body done and have started the first sleeve on the Firestone cardigan, and the sock is now 5.5" long. Pretty soon it will have to come out of the car to be worked on since the heel is NOT a memorized thing...especially since this is the first sock ever!
We took a steam engine train ride which was a lot of fun...

a good time was had by all. We went with my in-laws and we are all still talking to each other, so, I suppose that is a good thing!

In addition to traveling, for our business we have been busy working on a book for a company we have worked for before. Not sure how much more I can share other than they have a tendency to wait until too close to the deadline for publication to send us the materials and then they want it all scanned, color corrected and layed out in a minimum amount of time. Our last book with them was a Mutt and Jeff comic book. This one is Happy Hooligan. I definitely like the comics better this time, but since I do the front work (scanning) and the end work (layout) it's a pain that they rush us! We actually supposedly had to have it done before we left on vacation, but then they gave us a reprieve. I am much happier with the way it looks now. We'll see how they like the work. Last year they led us to believe we would get more time with future books... I am thinking this is going to always be a rush job and so that sort of sucks, because we take pride in what we do.

So, in the end, I know I still have lots of pictures to add, but at least this is a start!
